Rain, doctor and a right turn

Combination of mid-day doctor appointment, rain and the desire to do something with scrap wood deviated me from course today.
Instead of working on the bed I built boxes to cover the wheel wells using the left over wood from the bed frame. The boxes will be good for shelving and allow of further insulation of wheel well.
Not having any real wood working skills I try and keep things simple - no fancy joints here! To construct the box I simple screwed the wood and glued together.

As can be seen in the first picture my measurement skills were also a little off today as the boxes came up a wee bit short - instead of starting over I just cut out the bottom to fit

To finish the fine wheel well boxes off I sanded them down and added a couple of coats of danish oil - natural color.

sanding down rough parts

after

Goodies continue to arrive - lights!

Tonight I am back off to Home Depot - wish me luck!
