3 main projects today. Get countertop prepped for install, make drawers for cabinets and add handles and backstops to already installed doors

last night I bought a butcher block countertop, a piece of unfinished birch that was 6 feet long. this morning I had to cut that down to match my cabinet

about to cut

Cut!

Next came cutting out holes for sink and stove. They both came with templates that helped cutting right size hole.

Drilling holes at corners to help guide cut

Hole cut!

Sink fits.

Next stove stenciled in

With both holes cut time to see how it all fits together.

as the block is uncured it needs to be cured. Plan is to keep simple, a mineral oil / wax combo to the curing

While the block cured it was time to move onto drawer making. This is one of those tasks that really highlights I have no idea what I’m doing. Plan is for four drawers 2 five inches deep and 2 ten inches deep. About to cut boards for drawers out of plywood

Boards cut

Face boards arranged - will they fit?

Assembling drawers

Oops

Someone made a mistake!
More saw dust!

Tomorrow drawers will go in. After that counter, sink and stove!
